Zbiroh Castle
Zbiroh Castle, nestled between Prague and Pilsen, is a fascinating witness to Czech
history. Among its owners were some of the most prominent Czech rulers, including
Ottokar II of Bohemia, Charles IV, and Rudolf II. The castle's ancient walls conceal the
deepest hand-dug rock well in Europe, the oldest freestanding tower, and the oldest
aristocratic residence in the Czech lands. The castle’s mystical atmosphere has
historically attracted alchemists, Freemasons (including Alphonse Mucha), and even SS
operatives during the war.
Today, the castle is the main seat of the Knights Templar and a popular destination for
day trips and holidays. It offers comfortable accommodations and wellness facilities, as
well as spaces for weddings, corporate events, conferences, and team-building
activities. Visitors of all ages can enjoy a wide range of attractions, from guided tours of
the historic interiors to outdoor sports opportunities in the surrounding countryside.
Hotel & Wellness
Zbiroh Castle is the only hotel where you can spend the night in chambers once occupied by Czech monarchs such as Charles IV and Rudolf II, as well as renowned cultural figures like Alphonse Mucha and Ema Destinn.
For complete relaxation, we offer a private wellness area where you can enjoy total privacy. Unwind in a pool carved into the local lydite rock, warm up in the sauna or whirlpool, or recharge in the fitness centre.
